Role Overview
A senior operations role with full accountability for end-to-end supply chain execution across a national group of companies. The Purchasing & Order Fulfillment Manager oversees procurement strategy, inventory optimization, and customer order fulfillment — leading both the purchasing and customer service teams to ensure seamless coordination from supplier sourcing through to final delivery and invoicing.
Core Responsibilities
Purchasing & Vendor Management
• Develop and execute national purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives and margin targets
• Evaluate and select vendors based on price, quality, reliability, and service levels
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements to optimize cost and working capital
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions where required
Inventory Management
• Oversee inventory planning across multiple entities and product categories
• Maintain optimal stock levels balancing service levels, cash flow, and obsolescence risk
• Analyze demand patterns and forecast inventory requirements
• Lead inventory reviews including slow-moving and obsolete stock strategies
Order Fulfillment & Customer Service
• Lead the national Customer Service team responsible for order conversion, validation, follow-up, invoicing, and delivery completion
• Ensure a high standard of customer experience and service responsiveness
• Drive continuous improvement in order accuracy, cycle time, and fulfillment efficiency
Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop purchasing and customer service teams
• Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability frameworks
• Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Sales, Finance, and Service teams to align supply and demand
• Contribute to pricing, margin, and commercial strategy discussions
• Resolve inventory, order, and supplier-related issues across departments
Required Experience
• 7–10+ years in purchasing, inventory, and/or supply chain management
• 3–5+ years in a leadership role managing teams
• Experience in distribution, instrumentation, or technical B2B environments preferred
• Strong ERP experience (Business Central highly preferred)
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
• Proven negotiation and vendor management skills
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration or related discipline an asset
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
